Stick With It ✨ Episode 3: The Neck Sling (Postural Taping)
Stick With It – Episode 3
The Neck Sling (Postural Taping)
Indications:
This concept is one I have adapted from using body-wrapping techniques. The neck sling can help lift a horse from the root of their neck, improving posture and function very quickly. This taping can be used under tack as well as to improve standing posture. Under tack, it helps with the introduction of raised/ advanced frame and self-carriage. By sending a gentle reminder to the body it promotes correct muscle function in the neck and shoulder sling, that is vital for correct training.
How to:
Measure and cut a length of tape that goes along the front of the scapula, around the bottom of the neck and back up to the other side.
Fold the tape in half and tear the paper backing.
Apply 50% stretch.
From below the neck apply the tape and stretch it up in front of the scapula. You will be doing both sides at once in a "hug" movement.
Gradually decrease the amount of stretch as you get closer to the ends of the tape, until you are at 0%.
Rub to activate the adhesive.
